News: Devon Small Visitor Attraction of the Year 2023/24

Fantastic News!

Jacquie and I are very proud and excited to give you the fantastic news that ...

Tiverton Canal Co / Horse-Drawn Barge, Ducks Ditty Bar & Boat Hire, were awarded ‘Bronze Award’ for ‘Small Visitor Attraction of the Year 2023/24' in the Devon Tourism Awards ceremony in Torquay last night.

We are extremely proud for 2 reasons...

1. There are literally thousands of fantastic small attractions across Devon and we know this category is very highly sought after!

And 2. This is the first time in the history of our company, (1974) the horse-drawn barge living heritage attraction, has ever before been publicly recognised as: One of the Best Tourist Attractions in Devon!

Jacquie & I would like to thank our son Tim and Lauren (our horsemen) for collecting the award on our behalf last night... They both looked a million dollars!  A big thank you, must also go to everyone that has worked with us, both past and present, to make this award possible.

Devon Small Attraction of the Year 2023-24 Bronze AwardThis award for our tourist attraction, would also not have been possible if it wasn’t for Mark Baker (Canal Manager) also Craig Saunderson, Jo Roberts and the volunteers that go to make up the Ranger Service at the canal. We very much see this award as a win for them too, as they work so hard to keep the canal up together and working, which is so vital for us to be able to run the Horse Drawn Barge successfully.

We also see this award as a win for Tiverton, and we would like to thank everyone that’s visited the horse-drawn over the years and for those that continue to support us and the horses.

As you probably already know, as this attraction is so very rare in Great Britain, it is our goal to keep the Horse-Drawn Barge going for future generations and the recognition of this impressive tourism award will certainly help us to do just that! Thank you all.

Stand by for BIG Celebrations in 2024 as we now have a great deal to celebrate in our 50th year!!!
