1. Ideas: For longer hires we recommend packing a picnic, (food, drink and ice cream is also available from the Ducks Ditty Cafe Bar before/after your boat trip). Pack a blanket and a couple of small cushions; if you have a dog make sure you have lead and poop bags. Also recommended is packing the sun cream and sun hats, or if the weather is changeable, pack the macs! It's also best to use the toilet facilities in the basin before leaving on your boat journey.
2. Time: Make sure you leave plenty of time to hire the day boat, as you will need time to read and agree to our conditions of hire and fill out the paperwork. You will also need time for a staff member to take your "skipper" over the introduction and handover (usually about 10-15 minutes). You will also need a little time at the end of your hire to allow our staff to check the boat over before deposit return (in accordance with the terms and conditions of hire) all of this dose take Time . . .
3. How long should we hire the day boat for ?
We are happy to hire for just 1 hour, but for value for money we recommend a minimum of a 2 hour hire. However, our customers tell us that a minimum of 3 to 4 hours will give you time to stop along the canal for your picnic. We have also had glowing feedback for our 6 hour hire too, as more and more families are hiring the boats for the day with a picnic for a relaxing day out.

For all hires we recommend packing the sun cream and sun hats, or if the weather is changeable pack the macs! It's also best to use the toilet facilities in the basin before leaving on your boat journey. Finally, in the very rare occasion of an emergency, we recommend taking your mobile phone on the boat. Make sure all your private possessions (including your phone) are insured in case something should happen to them. (Waterproof mobile phone covers are also recommend.) A change of clothes is a good precaution, especially with the Canadian canoes (it is extremely rare for people to get wet, but it's better to be prepared)! The rowing boats are extremely stable. Before or after your higher boat session, the Ducks Ditty Cafe Bar is on hand for food, drinks and ice cream.

>. We cannot fault this lovely attraction. We hired out a boat for two hours and had a lovely time in bright sunshine - two adults and two teenagers - who all equally enjoyed it. The boat was lovely and clean and we had good instruction on what to do if things were to go wrong, so we felt more than capable should anything happen. We would definitely come again - Nikki M
>. My boyfriend's family and myself went on holiday to Devon; we came across Tiverton Canal Company by chance. We hired a boat for two hours, there was a tutorial carried out to ensure the boat would be used correctly and safety and just general information about the boat. I was quite happy to sit back and relax in the sun looking at the passing scenery whilst the men steered the boat. The family that run this company couldn't be more accommodating and friendly. I would definitely recommend taking the time to go to Tiverton Canal, it's well worth a try! - Natash JT
>. On our recent visit to the canal (16th August) whilst on the boat 'Mole,' we saw three kingfishers. Lovely! How unusual - Maria Percy
>. Hired a motor boat and spent the day pootling along the Tiverton Canal. Loads of great wildlife to see: moorhens brooding their young, parent swans looking after unhatched eggs, loads of fluffy ducklings, stunning kingfishers and too many beautiful blue dragonflies to count. Apparently the canal was breached in the winter of 2012 by storms, but it's definitely open now. Thanks to Elmo and Carlo for driving - Karen Revel-Chion
